About CelLuminateā„¢

The time-lapse video below shows CelLuminate Red in action over the course of several days.

The video above is CelLuminate Red-treated NG108 cells and their non-treated fellows mingling together, minding their own business.  The images were taken at 5-minute intervals for 5 days.

The  cells were stained with CelLuminate Red on the 1st day, washed, and incubated in regular medium on the 2nd day. The monitoring was performed with the CCM system from ASTEC (details below) on the 3rd day and taken images for 5  days, which means that the treated cells were exposed to CelLuminate Red  for 7 days, and for at least for 7 days, the treated cells showed no sign of cell toxicity.

The video was taken using the Real-Time Cultured Cell Monitoring System. Read more.

Non toxic cellular delivery

Based on non-toxic pH-sensitive nanoparticles, CelLuminate Red exploits the natural cellular endocytic pathways to deliver Rhodamine-loaded fluorophores within the cell cytosol – without affecting the cell’s metabolic activity. See CelLuminate’s non-toxicity in action.

Broad range of cell types

CelLuminate Red nanoparticles are able to enter and deliver the fluorophores into any cell with active endocytosis. CelLuminate has been tested on a wide range of cell types including stromal, epithelial, endothelial and MSC stem cells, and cell lines such as CHO and KB cells. See examples of the broad range of cell types with which CelLuminate is compatible.

Cell tracking

The very high compatibility of CelLuminate Red allows the delivery of large amounts of fluorophores. Since rhodamine fluorophores are not cytotoxic, CelLuminate Red can be employed to fluorescently track cells in 2D and 3D environments for extended periods. See cell tracking in operation.

Sub-cellular targeting

The nanoparticles can be loaded with water-soluble, water-insoluble amphiphilic molecules, allowing the delivery of a large variety of fluorophores within cells and consequently, the selective staining of specific sub-cellular compartments and components. See examples of sub-cellular targeting.
